Managing payroll effectively is important to the business’s productivity. Therefore, a business invests a large amount of money to build a competent team in the human resources and finance departments. Both teams work together to manage payroll, but even if they work efficiently and are competent, they can still face many challenges. Let’s learn what these challenges are and how businesses can avoid them.

1. Need for Constant Monitoring

To accurately calculate each employee’s salary, the HR department needs to know which employees are working overtime and which are leaving early each day. The total wage for employees depends on factors like total working hours and overtime. The incentives and deductions are based on these factors.  It can be very difficult for management to notice every employee.

To keep track of overtime, leave, and other HR-related matters, you can take help from payroll services. They use software to ensure that all these details are accurate and automatically updated. This way, HR won’t have to constantly track which employees are coming in late and leaving early, and they will also receive fewer complaints after the salary is credited. This software also provides analysis of every employee’s track record, which can be very helpful in decision-making regarding increments and promotions.

2. Tax Deduction

When salary is credited to your account, tax is already deducted. To ensure tax deductions are processed in accordance with applicable rules and regulations, businesses must keep track of all changes in tax laws. Even if someone has a finance background, staying up to date on these changes is challenging.

To make things easier, businesses can use payroll software provided by companies like Dayforce. This software automatically updates all new rules in the system, and all deductions are made according to the new changes. This way, your company can ensure compliance and avoid costly penalties.

3. Salary Calculation Mistakes

Every employee’s salary is decided at the time of their appointment, but that’s not the only amount they receive into their bank account each month. The salary they receive is calculated based on their basic salary, deductions, and incentives.

Even if the finance department carefully calculates salaries for every employee, there will still be a chance of error in the final calculation. To resolve this issue, avoid manual calculations and use payroll management softwares. These software perform complex calculations in split seconds with far greater accuracy than humans.

4. Employes Confusion

In most corporate offices, when salaries are credited, people reach out to HR to complain that they were not paid fairly. This mostly happens if the company has an incentive system. HR can try to justify each employee’s salary, and it won’t help.

To resolve this issue once and for all, businesses should use payroll management systems that allow employees to view their monthly salary slips. These slips should include all the details of why a certain amount was deducted and how much you were paid for overtime. This way, employees will be satisfied with their salary.

The human resources and finance departments manage payroll in most corporate offices. HR handles overtime and deductions for early leave, as well as complaints regarding salary. The finance department handles complex calculations and ensures salaries are credited promptly.

Both departments face many challenges, but simply using modern payroll software can make their work easier and less error-prone. So if your business is struggling with persistent complaints about unfair wages, you should adopt a modern payroll management system.
